FemAnVi invites you to a presentation by Mariachiara Feresin entitled “Child Custody in Cases of Domestic Violence: Women’s Experiences and the Logic of Services” which will take place on March 16th 2017 from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the University of Ottawa (Social Sciences Building, room 4006).

Abstract
Child custody in case of post-separation violence represents a complex situation: the focus is, on one hand, on children and women’s protection from the violence, on the other hand on parental rights What is known about how these decisions are taken? Aim of my research is to examine how the professionals involved manage the situations of child custody in case of violence, and on which basis they take relevant decisions.

Biography 
Mariachiara Feresin is a PhD student in the Department of Life Science–Psychology Unit at the University of Trieste (Italy). Her doctoral research project concerns child custody in cases of domestic violence, focusing on women’s experiences and the logic of Social Services in Italy. The study will focus more particularly on Psychological expertises. She worked for 2 years in an AntiViolenceCenter and won the National Prize for the best post-graduate thesis in violence against women issues (2016).
